Known the world over for innovative and inspirational animal presentations, Natural Encounters, Inc. has provided its services to a variety of facilities around the world. The goals of the company are: to Engage, Inspire, and Empower its audience through the exhibition of animals performing trained natural behaviors, carefully designed dialogue, and tastefully choreographed presentations. One constant flows through all of the presentations - the show philosophy and commitment to conservation. Natural Encounters, Inc. was founded by one of the best-known trainers in the world, Steve Martin, who has pioneered the art of training a variety of birds and animals through positive reinforcement. He is also the founder of IAATE, the International Association of Avian Trainers and Educators.
Steve will present a two hour presentation on "Understanding Parrot Behavior" both Saturday and Sunday.

Magician Extraordinaire Nancy Darst, one of the very few accomplished female magicians in the U.S. today, will entertain and amaze you with side-splitting comedy, audience participation and exotic trick parrots from her National Award winning act. The act includes "Buddy" a Blue and Gold Macaw and "Sophia" a Triton Cockatoo. Both are characters and compete against each other to do their tricks.
Catch one of Nancy's acts Friday evening, Saturday or Sunday.

Liz Wilson started working with behavior in pet parrots over a decade ago. Over the last several years, she has gained recognition internationally as a parrot behavior consultant. An experienced and entertaining speaker, she has done extensive lecturing at avian conferences and has written for avian magazines like Bird Talk and Birds USA. She received critical acclaim for her chapter on problem behaviors in companion parrots, in the Manual of Avian Medicine, a textbook for avian veterinarians.
If you have issues with biting, screaming, plucking, etc., sit in on Liz's Friday evening lecture on "Basic Behavior Problems". Saturday and Sunday lectures are on "Socialization and The Pet Parrot".

Elizabeth Clark, M.S., V.M.D. graduated in 1985 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, and has spent the years since then in private practice working primarily with birds and other exotic pets. Her background includes spending time in Central and South America, India, Bangladesh, Africa and Asia, studying a variety of mammals and birds in their native habitats.

"Hands-On/Just-Ask"

Chester County Bird Club and Delaware County Bird Club (DELCO) will be sponsoring a "Hands-On/Just-Ask" area in Parrotville. Members of the clubs will bring a variety of pet birds to have on site at this special area in Parrotville for all to enjoy. Visitors will see many beautiful kinds of pet birds and are encouraged to ask questions about them and birds in general. The members will happily share their experiences and knowledge with anyone wishing to know and learn. There will be limited opportunity to handle birds...

"Parrotville's" Grand Entrance!
|
|
Visitors will be welcomed to Parrotville by a grand entranceway made up of two large flight cages containing exotic Parrots and accented by tropical plants.
The two large custom made flight cages are on display complements of Larry Wieder of Windy Ridge Distributing. Larry will take great pride in designing and building a custom cage especially for you. Windy Ridge Distributing can be contacted at windyridge@netcarrier.com.
Dawn Lam of Feathered Angels will be providing the Parrots for the entrance's flight cages. Dawn is well known in the south central PA avian community for her love of birds. This is made evident by the fact her "avian family" contains mostly adopted and rescued birds. One flight cage will be filled with several colorful Macaws and the other cage with a variety of Amazon parrots.
The tropical plants surrounding the flight cages are provided by Mary Jane Devlin of Botanical Accents (info@botanicalaccents.com). Botanical Accents has a collection of items and services that enhance the beauty of your home creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for you, your family and guests to enjoy. Be sure to lookup Mary Jane who is a vendor of the Pet Expo.
